The Advocacy Club was formed by Kamran Choudhry and Johann Soufi in April 2013, so that legal practitioners based in The Hague could meet, be social and practise their advocacy skills. The Advocacy Club is completely free and meets once a month.
Kamran Choudhry is a barrister who is currently serving with the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. A door tenant at Garden Court Chambers in the UK, Kamran specialises in international criminal law and public international law and has a particular interest in disputes that involve a human rights and civil liberties dimension. He has worked at a number of international criminal tribunals. His international work also encompasses advising Governments, NGOs and Commissions of Inquiry in a variety of foreign jurisdictions. Kamran is dually qualified and was admitted to the New York Bar in 2006. He has also served as an advocacy tutor for Lincoln's Inn helping train junior barristers in the UK in advocacy skills. Johann Soufi is currently the Head of the Legal Advisory Unit at the Defence Office of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). As a lawyer specialised in criminal and international humanitarian law, he represented accused and victims in France and participated in the Defence of M. Callixte Kalimanzira, Chief of Staff of the Minister of Interior during the Rwandan genocide, before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR). Johann further advised the ICTR Trial Chamber particularly in the trial of four former Rwandan ministers of the interim government during the genocide. In 2011, Johann participated in the coordination and drafting of the trial judgment of former Liberian President Charles Taylor. Johann also coordinated a Serious Crimes Investigation Team in the UN peacekeeping mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT). His international work further encompasses advising Governments and NGOs in a variety of foreign jurisdictions. Johann also served as an advocacy tutor for Lincoln's Inn helping train junior barristers in the UK in advocacy skills and organized the advocacy training of Counsel at the STL.
TJ Adhihetty is a Canadian lawyer and currently a Trial Counsel with the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. His previous posts include Appeals Counsel with the OTP of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and Associate Legal Officer with the ICTR Trial Chambers. He is currently an officer of the Human Rights Law Committee of the International Bar Association. TJ also serves on two Study Groups of the International Law Association: Cybersecurity, Terrorism and International Law, and UN Sanctions and International Law. Prior to his international work, he was a litigation associate with a national law firm in Toronto.

Julian Elderfield currently works as an Assistant Trial Lawyer at the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague. He was admitted as a lawyer in Australia in 2015. Before working at the ICC, Julian completed a Master of Public International Law at the London School of Economics in 2012. He has also interned at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
